I know this is a really hard time for everyone. The future is uncertain. We’re all missing our family and friends, especially those in solo quarantine. However, there is a silver lining in all this! We have to remain positive through all this because we’re all in it together. Why not use this time to better ourselves?
When was the last time you self reflected? And I mean truly self reflected. With no-one around you. Put the phone down. Are you happy alone? Can you be happy alone? Because as cliche as this may sound, if you can be happy alone you can be a better partner, mother, father, sibling, spouse, colleague, leader, whatever role you play.
When was the last time you read a book? Whether it be a self help book or beautiful story to take you to fantasy land, let your mind be free for a moment. Why not learn a new perspective?
When was the last time you made yourself a beautiful dinner? That paella that takes 4 hours to make? Or that lobster bouillabaisse you’ve been wanting to surprise your spouse with? Why not use this time to try out a new recipe?
How about that pilates subscription you purchased a while go? Or the HIIT workout channel you’ve been meaning to follow? Isn’t now a great time to try it out?
That distant Aunt or Uncle or Cousin that you’ve always wanted to keep in touch with but has pushed off? Well now is your chance. Why not reach out and catch up?
What about doing a full clean of the house? Decluttering is an often time consuming “chore” but what if you have unlimited time? How can we find ‘fun’ in something we used to find tedious? How can we change our mentality of what we don’t like into something enjoyable if time is not of the essence?
We live in a constant state of “I’m busy”. What if this is a way the universe wants us to all slow down. To force us to reevaluate our priorities and what really matters. To focus on our health, our relationships and more importantly, ourselves. Let’s all use this time to be the best version of ourselves.
Food for thought?
